The department of clinical virology has been established at IAV in the year 2025. The department primarily focuses on translational research to improve patient care through development of prognostic and diagnostic tools for viral diseases enabling timely and accurate risk assessment.

The department will work in close collaboration with hospitals and clinicians to promote the development of point-of-care diagnostic/prognostic devices for the management of viral diseases.

The department will also work in tandem with sister departments in translating the leads on new diagnostics, vaccines and drugs by conducting clinical trials in liaison with hospitals and regulatory authorities.
