Innovation & Translation Facilitation Centre

Innovation & Translation Facilitation Centre (ITFC) is the facility at the Institute of Advanced Virology to support the startup industries in life sciences. Our mission is to facilitate the commercialization of the research findings of the students/fellows/ scientists of the institute/individual innovators/entrepreneurs by utilizing the facilities and technological expertise of the institute. The primary goal of the program is to strengthen the region’s economy through employment creation by nurturing startups and developing them into successful and sustainable industries using high-end technologies. IAV hopes to contribute to the country’s socio-economic development by establishing an incubation center through scientific innovation.

Vision

To provide incubation facilities to startups and R&D facilities to establish themselves as strong entrepreneurs in developing diagnostic and therapeutic measures against viral and other infectious diseases in particular.

About us

ITFC is located at the campus of the Institute of Advanced Virology in Bio 360 Life Sciences Park, Thiruvananthapuram. It has state-of-the-art infrastructural facilities, office space, and co-working space. The startups planning to incubate in the ITFC will have access to the ultra-modern research equipment placed in the central instrumentation facility of the Institute. Additionally, common supporting infrastructure such as conference/meeting rooms, uninterrupted power supply, leased line internet facility, etc., will also be provided to the startups planning to incubate in the ITFC.

Selection of Entrepreneurs to the ITFC

Application will be made through open advertisement/website/online as required. Anyone applying for an incubator must register as a private/public limited company under the Indian Companies Act or the DIPP. A company’s technology, available resources, entrepreneurial experience, and need for incubator services will be looked into for making the selection to the ITFC.

The selection of entrepreneurs for membership in ITFC will be based on the recommendation of the expert committee specially set up for the purpose.
